The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has further extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom (UK) to Friday, 27 November 2026, following sustained demand from Nigerians seeking passport services.

The extended phase will run from Tuesday, 3 November to Friday, 27 November 2026, the Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday.

The NIS said the extension was in line with the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and was meant to accommodate more Nigerians requiring passport services in the UK.

Where the exercise will hold

The intervention will continue at the designated centres in four cities:

London: 56-57 Fleet St, Temple, London EC4Y 1JU; Manchester: Nigerian House, 23 Platt Ln, Manchester M14 5NE; Aberdeen: Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen, AB24 4NR; and Cardiff: Western Leisure Centre, Ely, Cardiff CF5 5HJ, United Kingdom.

The NIS said applicants are required to schedule their appointments through its designated online portal or the website of the Nigerian High Commission.

The NIS said applicants must comply strictly with their appointment dates and times, adding that the arrangement is intended to guarantee orderliness and reduce waiting time.

Only applicants with prior intervention appointment bookings will be attended to at the venues.

Contactless option for renewal

For applicants who prefer not to visit the intervention centres or the High Commission, the NIS said the recently upgraded Contactless Passport Application System remains a viable alternative for passport renewal.

According to the Service, the upgrade addresses initial challenges associated with biometric enrollment, allowing eligible applicants to seamlessly process their renewal remotely.

Documents to present

The NIS said applicants are required to present the “completed application form, payment slips as proof of payment, intervention appointment printout and a self-addressed return envelope at the venue.

For renewal cases, it said presentation of the applicant’s current passport is mandatory.

The NIS warned that payments in cash will not be accepted at the venue.

“Payments in cash will not be accepted at the venue, and only applicants with prior intervention appointment bookings will be attended to.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to efficient, transparent and responsive passport service delivery to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.”
