Seplat Energy Plc, a key supplier of gas to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd’s gas infrastructure pipeline network, has announced scheduled routine maintenance on its gas production facilities from February 12 to 15.

NNPC Ltd’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odeh, stated in a notice on Thursday that this planned activity is part of standard industry safety and asset integrity procedures designed to ensure the ongoing reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of vital gas infrastructure.

“Periodic maintenance of this kind is essential to sustain optimal system performance, enhance operational resilience, and minimise the risk of unplanned outages.”

During the four-day maintenance window, he said there will be a temporary reduction in gas supply into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network.

“As a consequence, some power generation companies that depend on this supply may experience reduced gas availability, potentially affecting electricity generation during this period,” Mr Odeh said.

He said NNPC Ltd and Seplat Energy are working closely to ensure the maintenance is conducted safely and completed as scheduled.

Meanwhile, he said NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative gas suppliers to compensate for expected supply gaps and maintain network stability.

Upon concluding the maintenance, he said full gas supply to the NGIC system is expected to resume promptly, allowing affected power generation companies to return to normal operations.
