The FCT Police Command has intercepted a Lexus LX570 SUV bearing a concealed number plate inscribed “PRESIDENCY” in Maitama, Abuja, and arrested its occupant for impersonation and forgery.
The police said the vehicle was intercepted at about 8:00 p.m. on 20 October by operatives on routine patrol in Maitama District.
In a statement on Thursday, the Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said preliminary investigations showed the concealed plate bore registration number 10B218 FG with the inscription “PRESIDENCY”.

Ms Adeh said the suspect claimed to be the legitimate holder of the plate and a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“Following the suspect’s claim of being the legitimate holder of the number plate, further investigations revealed that the plate’s registration documents were forged and that the suspect was impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” she said.
She said investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion.

The Command urged residents to remain law-abiding, cooperate with police operations and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency numbers — 08032003913, 08061581938.
