The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving electricity supply reliability following a strategic meeting with the Special Adviser to the President on Power, Lanre Babalola.

The NISO management team, led by Managing Director/CEO, Abdu Mohammed, received Mr Babalola and his delegation on Friday, 29 May, at the NISO Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

The system operator in a statement on Sunday said the visit provided an opportunity for strategic discussions on the operations of the national grid, ongoing power sector reforms, and the federal government’s commitment to supporting NISO in the effective delivery of its mandate.

It added that the deliberations focused on strengthening grid reliability, operational efficiency, transparency, and overall system stability.

Mr Babalola emphasised the importance of prudent resource management, enhanced operational discipline, and sustained efforts to improve grid performance and reduce system disturbances across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

He reaffirmed NISO’s critical role in driving a more stable, resilient, and efficient power sector.

In his remarks, Mr Mohammed assured the delegation of NISO’s unwavering commitment to advancing grid reliability and operational excellence.

He also pledged the organisation’s full support towards achieving the shared objectives of a more robust and sustainable electricity supply industry.

NISO is responsible for electricity system operations, managing load allocation from generation companies to distribution companies and eligible customers.
