A helicopter has crashed in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The incident occurred on Monday morning, throwing residents of the coastal community into panic.
The exact number of persons on board and their fate could not be ascertained at the time of this report, while the identity of the helicopter remains unknown.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Abayomi, said efforts were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

“Details surrounding the incident are still emerging, as efforts to establish the full circumstances continue,” Mr Abayomi said in a statement.
He urged residents of Igbokoda and adjoining communities to remain calm and refrain from circulating unverified information.
“The public will be duly informed as soon as further credible information becomes available,” he said.
