The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has unveiled an anti-corruption policy document aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in its operations.

The policy was unveiled on Tuesday at the TCN corporate headquarters in Abuja by the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the company.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of TCN, Sule Abdulaziz, said the initiative represents a significant step towards reinforcing the company’s commitment to ethical standards and zero tolerance for corrupt practices.

Mr Abdulaziz, who was represented by the Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Abiodun Afolabi-Fadahunsi, said TCN’s credibility depends not only on what it achieves but also on how it achieves it.

He urged staff of the company to familiarise themselves with the policy document and reflect its provisions in their daily decisions and conduct.

He commended the ACTU and all those who contributed to the development of the document, noting that its objective goes beyond preventing corrupt practices to fostering a culture of honesty, fairness, accountability, transparency and professionalism.

The TCN boss called on staff to support the effective implementation of the policy and uphold its principles in the discharge of their responsibilities.

In her welcome address, the Chairman of ACTU, TCN, E. Benibo, said the unveiling went beyond the presentation of a policy document.

Ms Benibo described it as a demonstration of the collective commitment of management and staff to strengthening integrity, transparency and accountability in the company.

She noted that corruption weakens institutions, undermines public trust and wastes valuable resources, stressing that combating it requires the commitment of every member of staff.

In her presentation of the policy overview, the representative of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and ACTU Desk Officer attached to TCN, Monsurat Ifeajika, highlighted the significance of the document in influencing conduct and strengthening institutional systems.

Ms Ifeajika explained that the policy guides the prevention, detection, reporting and responding to unethical and corrupt practices within the organisation.
