The Lagos State Government has announced a major traffic diversion along Baale Animashaun Road in Ifako-Ijaiye, as construction work on a new culvert begins next week.
The State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, in a statement on Friday, said the construction work is scheduled to commence on the 15th of June and is expected to last for eight weeks.
Mr Osiyemi said there will be no movement into Baale Animashaun Road from the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. “The road will be closed for the construction works.”
“The Lagos State Government wishes to inform the motoring public that as part of the ongoing drainage reconstruction project serving Adfarm Estate, there is a need to construct a culvert across Baale Animashaun Road to channel stormwater runoff from Adfarm Estate, Adson Street, and surrounding areas,” the statement said.
Alternative routes
To reduce inconvenience during the construction period, the state government provided alternative routes for motorists.

“Motorists may also use Jendor Junction, located close to Baale Animashaun Road (Alakuko Junction), through Alhaji Ganiyu Road to reconnect with Baale Animashaun Road.
“Motorists can also use the Ajegunle-Ilo Bus Stop Junction via Adetiba Street, connect to Fagbeyiro Abayomi Street, proceed through Fola Azeez Street, and link back to Baale Animashaun Road,” the statement said.
Mr Osiyemi advised motorists to obey all traffic signs and follow the directives of traffic management officials to ensure smooth vehicular movement during the period.
