As Nigeria marks the 33rd anniversary of Democracy Day, the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Emeka Obegolu, called on the federal government to intensify efforts toward addressing insurgency and other security challenges across the country.

Mr Obegolu, in a message felicitating Nigerians on the 33rd Democracy Day anniversary, issued by the ACCI Media & Strategy Officer, Olayemi John-Mensah, on Friday, stressed that the government must implement lasting solutions to foster national stability and unlock Nigeria’s vast economic potential.

He said that with sustained peace, good governance, and collective commitment to nation-building, Nigeria will continue to grow and prosper for the benefit of all citizens.

The ACCI president described Democracy Day as a time to reflect on the sacrifices of heroes past whose courage and commitment laid the foundation for the freedoms and democratic values we enjoy today.

He urged citizens to continue promoting unity, peace, and mutual respect as essential pillars for national development.

Mr Obegolu emphasised that peace and security remain critical to economic growth and investment attraction.

He noted that a nation characterised by peaceful coexistence and stability naturally attracts investors, stimulates business activities, creates employment opportunities, and accelerates economic development.

“On behalf of the Executive Committee members of the ACCI, Chief Obegolu, who also doubled as the Leader of the Organised Private Sector (OPS) in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs, wishes Nigeria a Happy 33rd Democracy Day,” the statement said.
