The Government of Nigeria extends very warm congratulations to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of the Republic of Senegal, on his election as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.
Nigeria commends the leadership of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for this seamless transition, which underscores the bloc’s commitment to democratic principles, regional solidarity, and collective progress.
President Faye’s assumption of this important role comes at a pivotal moment for West Africa, as the region continues to address shared challenges and pursue deeper integration, peace, security, and economic prosperity for our peoples.
As a founding member of ECOWAS and a steadfast advocate for regional cooperation, Nigeria reaffirms its full support for President Faye’s chairmanship.

We are confident that under his able leadership, ECOWAS will advance the goals of unity, stability, and sustainable development across the sub-region.

Nigeria also congratulates the Republic of Senegal on the appointment of General Birame Diop as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission and looks forward to working with the new leadership team.
