The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said the TR1 60MVA transformer at the Oworonshoki transmission substation, which was out of service due to heavy flooding at the station, has been successfully restored.

The TCN had earlier declared force majeure on Oworoshoki 132/33kV and Lekki 330/132kV transmission substations as a result of flooding caused by continuous rainfall in Lagos.

Earlier on Wednesday the TCN said that although the Lekki 132kV transmission substation is still in service, water is continuously being pumped out of the station.

It added that the Oworonshoki transmission substation, on the other hand, is presently not in service as the level of water has affected two power transformers, TR1- 60MVA and TR3- 30MVA, that tripped on no load even after attempted restoration.

On Wednesday night, the TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, in a statement said the TCN’s maintenance crew restored the Oworonshoki transmission substation at exactly 7:53 a.m. on Tuesday.

She added that power supply has now been restored to Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) for onward distribution to customers within the affected axis, as all feeders radiating from the station are now back in service.

“TCN assures the public of its continued commitment to maintaining a reliable and stable transmission network,” she said.
