The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Sunday said it has recovered a stolen Toyota Camry in Edo State.
The FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, in a statement said personnel of RS5.13 Iruekpen Unit Command intercepted the gold-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number RBC 987 CM on Sunday.
Mr Ohaeri said the recovery followed a distress report received by the patrol team that the vehicle was stolen from a church premises in Benin City earlier in the day.
Upon receiving detailed information about the stolen vehicle, he said the patrol team immediately activated its intelligence and surveillance network, strategically monitoring vehicular movements along major routes within its operational corridor.
“Through a combination of vigilance, professionalism and effective patrol coordination, the vehicle was subsequently sighted and intercepted,” the statement said.
FRSC said the suspect found in possession of the vehicle claimed to be a delivery agent.
“However, following preliminary investigations, he was apprehended and handed over to officers of the Nigeria Police Force and taken into custody for further interrogation, while the recovered vehicle was secured pending identification and handover to its rightful owner,” the statement added.
Commending the swift response of the patrol team, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, noted that the recovery further underscores the critical role of FRSC patrol operations not only in ensuring safer roads but also in supporting national security efforts through intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration.

Mr Ohaeri said the successful recovery highlights the growing impact of FRSC patrol operations in crime reduction across the country.
“Beyond traffic management and road safety enforcement, FRSC patrol teams serve as vital eyes and ears on the highways, contributing significantly to the detection of stolen vehicles, apprehension of criminal suspects, rescue of crash victims, and provision of timely intelligence to relevant security agencies.
“This proactive approach continues to strengthen public safety, deter criminal activities, and enhance confidence in the nation’s road transportation system.”
FRSC encouraged motorists and citizens to promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies through its established communication channels for immediate intervention.
