The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage at the Nsukka–New Haven 132kV Transmission Substation from November 5 to 10 November, to enable its contractor to conduct Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) pre-commissioning tests on substation equipment.

In a notice signed by its management on Tuesday, the company said it will carry out the outage in phases over four days.

According to TCN, power interruptions will be limited to areas directly affected by the work at any given time, while other areas will continue to receive bulk electricity supply.

It said there will be no outage on Sunday, November 8, and Tuesday, November 10, as work continues.

“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public of a planned outage at the Nsukka–New Haven 132kV Transmission Substation from 5th to 10th November 2026 to enable its contractor to conduct SCADA pre-commissioning tests on substation equipment.

“The outage will be carried out in phases over a 4-day period.

“Please note that there will be no outage on Sunday, 8th November 2026, and Tuesday, 10th November 2026, as the work continues,” TCN said.

During the exercise, TCN said MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) will be unable to supply electricity to customers served by the Nsukka 132kV Substation, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the Orba and Sumas 33kV feeders on the affected days.

TCN apologised for any inconvenience the planned outage will cause customers in the affected areas.

SCADA is a system that allows remote monitoring and control of power transmission equipment and is critical for grid stability and efficient operations.
